Week of 8-3 to 9-3: Science Assignments

This week we are beginning our first long project.

 

The Water Cycle PPT Project: Sections 1-4 is a 3-4 week long project, you make a PPT presentation with a partner, then you will present.

 

  1. USE: Your science notes, your science classwork, your science homework. 
  2. We have covered all the information in the PPT before.
  3. You just need to find your notes and then think and discuss with your partner about what to write down int he PPT.

 

  • All information in in the file above. 
  • We cover at least one section each week.
  • The file above says how many points each slide is worth.
  • We will be working on this all of science class and part of LA class.  So, There are 40 points for science and 40 points for LA in this project.
  • At the end of each class, email the powerpoint to yourself and your partner (in case you need to work on this at home or if your partner is absent.

 

 

This week we cover only SECTION 1 of the Water Cycle PPT Project: Sections 1-4.

Tuesday:

  • Discuss Alternate possible worlds where water does not do a part of the water cycle that it is supposed to do.  Write a creative story based in scienctific fact.  (PART 6 ONLY--skip part 5) Water Cycle Unit: Parts 5- 6

ALL groups will need to do virtual:  Assignment Below:

 

Adaptive Curriculum:

  • Complete the assignment titled: Virtual Friday 8-27-10 (3 Activities)
  • Complete the assessment for each activity AFTER you have done the whole activity (5 points).
  • Choose one activity (from the 3 you did) and email Ms. Williams a COMPLETE paragraph of at least 5 sentences about what you learned.  You can type your paragraph directly into the email.
  • Email to: bwilliams@kcsohana.com

 

In your paragaph you get points for: (6 points total)

  1. An introduction sentence about which activity you will be explaining. (1 point)
  2. (At least) 3 detailed sentences about what you learned from that activity. (3 points)
  3. A closing sentence to your paragraph summarizing what the activity was about. (1 point)
  4. Complete sentences, no spelling errors, indented paragraph. (1 point)

  • Do Adaptive Curriculum Science Work


Tuesday:

  • Continue working on the Water Cycle Poster Project with Table Team.
  • Each student in the Team will be asked to explain one of the bold words from the Water Cycle Vocab List (handout given in class).  Students will need to define the vocabulary word AND explain how it connects to another part of the water cycle.  Vocabulary words will be pulled out of a bag at random.
